Dan Grossman aka DGRO is a disk jockey and party purveyor responsible for a series of grooving underground NYC dance parties called Chromed, that have taken place in everything from DIY spaces, dark warehouses, amazing lofts, and the cities most prominent clubs. With his second year playing at Forest already notched in his belt, Magnetic Magazine is proud to premiere his 2+ hour long set that took place on Friday, weekend two, at the silent disco stage:

Magnetic also got the chance to ask him about the inspiration behind the set:

"I'm always inspired by the environments in which I play and Electric Forest is such a special place. As this is my second year playing, I had some idea of the magic of the forest. There's a wide variety of styles on the bill and I wanted to contribute to this. I thus started out my set playing music that I love that would be fresh and unique for the crowd.

....From there, I just went with the flow. In terms of music that inspires me, it comes from everywhere. I started studying classical music when I was 4. Then picked up the drums at 10 to learn rock, funk, and jazz. These days, I listen to lots of dance music, funk (been digging Africa Airways Funk Departures), jazz (Ahmad Jamal's But Not For Me has been a staple), and Sigur Ros."

We also asked him to give us the scooped on his Chromed NYC parties:

"Skyler Gross and I started throwing Chromed parties together (with Tim Shilstone who has since been traveling around the country), over two years ago. Whether in a warehouse, loft, or club, our goal is always to combine great music with engaging art installations. We started with a focus on local talent, bringing our best DJ friends together. While this is absolutely still a big part of Chromed, we've also started brining in international selectors - most recently Amsterdam's Miss Melera and Berlin's Martin Roth.

...All in all, our goal is to throw really fun parties with good music for people to dance to in a room that we deck out in shiny silver."
