New York City's Famed Webster Hall To Close For Renovations In August

It will be closed for an undetermined amount of time

Webster Hall is closing next month. The famed New York concert venue that has hosted artists ranging from Elvis Presley, to Metallica, to Ed Sheeran, to Diplo, to Guns N’ Roses and all of those in between, will close for renovations next month.

According to a Facebook post by Gerard McNamee, the club’s director of operations, the nightclub and concert venue will close for an undetermined amount of time after its last show on August 9th. The final club show will be on August 5th.

“Sad but true, the legendary and world-famous Webster Hall has been sold and will close as we know it for its final club night on Saturday August 5,” wrote McNamee.

Among those slated to perform on the final run of shows under this management are Good Charlotte, Galactic Empire, Michelle Branch and Maratek.

The venue is slated to be sold to AEG Presents & Brooklyn Sports Entertainment, pending approval by the local authorities. However with the renovations in motion, it seems like the new owners are confident this will go through.

It will be an interesting time in New York City without Webster Hall to introduce many people to so many great artists or soundtrack some late nights. We just hope they don’t totally alter the iconic look that the venue has.
