Brooklyn Comes Alive, a little known festival that packs a big punch, has announced its 2017 daily schedule and the supergroup formations. Over 100 artists will descend on three venues in Brooklyn over the course of two days next month. Among those who will perform include Crystal Method, KJ Sawka, DJ Premiere & The Badder Band, Muzzy Bear and Sunsquabi.
However there is much more to the festival than just groups that tour consistently.
There will be a celebration of the Allman Brothers with longtime guitarist/vocalist/musical director—Scott Sharrard alongside some super-talented musicians like Al Schnier and Vinnie Amico (moe.), legendary drummer Bernard Purdie, versatile organist Kofi Burbridge (Tedeschi Trucks Band), percussionist Nate Werth (Snarky Puppy, Ghost Note), and Gregg Allman Band bassist Brett Bass.
Marc Brownstein / Joel Cummings / Mike Greenfield / Ryan Jalbert / Aron Magner (members of The Disco Biscuits, Umphrey’s McGee, Lotus, The Motet) will play a very special set on Sunday.
Kris Myers (Umphrey’s McGee), Ryan Stasik (Umphrey’s McGee), and Mike Gantzer (Aqueous) will take on classics from Green Day’s Dookie and a few other songs from Ween, Weezer and The Ramones.
