Festival season has come and gone much to our dismay and the take away every year teaches us the ways we can improve our camping habits to be both comfortable and stylish at the same time. Burning Man, Glastonbury, Tomorrowland and all other camping festivals have taught us the importance of keeping things low-key, light and living off of a little. We say the hell with that, there is nothing more satisfying then showing up at a camping festival and erecting your palace of 'Glamping' wonderment!
What is 'Glamping', you ask? Well, let us enlighten you at the idea of blending camping and glamour so that every festival experience is one of comfort and style. Glamping, is a way to experience the great outdoors without sacrificing luxury. Glamping is definitely a kicker in the wallet, but you can rest assured that you are getting your money's worth when these suckers last you years. We can spend days writing out various ways for you to develop your Glamping skills, but instead we are going to showcase three products that my co-writer, Jamie Lannon, and I spent using countless times throughout the season.
SoulPad 4000-Hybrid™ Tent
The SoulPad design 4000-Hybrid tent is one beautiful and luxurious camping experience. SoulPad tents are a Glastonbury favorite and if you haven't noticed most camping festivals across the US and Europe that offer tent accommodation offer SoulPad tents. Why? Probably because if you imagined how the Queen of England camps, it is probably with a SoulPad tent...probably not, but you get my point.
The 4000-Hybrid design has a cotton canvas flysheet, zipped-in groundsheet (ZIG), 4m diameter, 1.4m entrance, 2.5m at centre, weight 21.9kg. The ground sheet is extra thick and is 100% waterproof made in a "bath tub" style edging that prevents water from coming in if the ground becomes soaked. What makes the Hybrid designs unique is that the ground sheet can be unzipped and separated from the walls which can be rolled up, so you can let a sweet breeze in and air out the tent.
Jamie has taken her SoulPad tent to almost four festivals in the last three months, Gratitude Migration on hELLO Beach in NJ, Global Eclipse Gathering in Big Summit Prairie in Oregon and Native Noise Festival in Echo Lake, NY. Three different terrains in two months and she couldn't stop suggesting it to everyone. Read her experience here:
"I highly suggest this tent to any festival-goers and campers. While the initial price may seem high, I guarantee that the quality is worth it, and I’m sure that this tent will last me many festivals. This is by far the easiest tent that I have ever set up. It can be assembled and disassembled in about 10 minutes, by one person! There are only two poles, and then a few stakes and ropes.
The canvas flysheet and bathtub style ground sheet proved to be completely waterproof during an entire day of intense rain at Gratitude Migration. Myself, along with all of my belongings stayed completely dry, without having to worry about putting a tarp over or under the tent. My friends in other tents with rain sheets and tarps cannot say the same, as their tents ended up wet. The zipped in groundsheet (ZIG) allows you to open up the tent all the way around to allow air in during those hot days. This was necessary at the Global Eclipse Gathering in Oregon, when temperatures were already in the 80’s by 8AM.
The tent is very heavy since it is made up of canvas, which makes it difficult to travel with. The extra fee at the airport was totally worth it for a festival like the Global Eclipse Gathering or Burning Man. It did lack side pockets for things like my phone, flashlight and toothbrush- but I made do without. In the future I will definitely purchase the nail pegs from SoulPad for any beach camping festival such as Gratitude Migration because traditional pegs stay held in sand.
Overall, the tent easy to set up, super spacious, as well as completely waterproof and dustproof. I love the fact that you can stand in it, which is necessary when you’re at a festival for days.

Epic Wipes Body Wipes
I could not swear by a more gifting product if I knew one. Epic Wipes is a small entrepreneurial company that began its funding through KickStarter, where I happened to find them. They are a towel sized body wipe (2 ft 6in) that was developed with a cleansing formula that does not leave sticky residue on your body. The wipes are 100% biodegradable and are 99.8% made up of water and bamboo. The other 0.02% is a combinations of Chamomile, Calendula, Eucalyptus essential oil, sugar-based surfactant and food grade preservatives.
The company designed them in mind for extreme outdoor enthusiasts who have to take days in between showers while on hiking expeditions. However, the company says they can be used for biking, climbing, surfing, camping, as well as military and medical needs. They can also be used as dish rags, emergency sling (they're very durable), toilet paper, body cooling neck wrap, sun protection and a floor mop. Quite a versatile wipe, no?
Now how does that translate for festival season? Well, at Burning Man and small beach festivals such as, Gratitude Migration, showers are not exactly a top priority for festival operations. I do not know about you, but I can barely spend 12 hours without a shower, so for me, these wipes were magnificent. One towel could clean me and my husband (if he would ever let me!) and you literally can feel a sense of freshness that I do not normally get using smaller Pharmacy brand body wipes.

Tesalate Beach Towels
What is probably the biggest downside to a beach towel? The sand, no matter how much you shake it, toss it and dry it, it always comes back embedded with sand grains. Well, this Australian company has found away to design a beach towel that does not bring any sand back with it. The company, Tesalate, developed a new textile technology called, AbsorbLite™ microfiber which is composed of 80% polyester and 20% poly-amide. They create 63in x 31in full sized beach towels with this microfiber that does not allow sand grin to get trapped in the fiber loops so they just fall off after a shake.
Aside from being sand-free, the towel is made with a heavy absorbent material that can take in up to a liter of water and it was engineered to dry in half the time of your average towel. It was also made compact and light so it rolls up and fits in your carry-on without taking up much space. The towel is also made with traction and can be used as a yoga mat and if that was not enough, it comes in a signature style where one side has a black and white pattern design and the other side has a choice of 21 vibrant options!
This towel's unique fabric and technological design, versatility and stylish designs make it an incredible addition to your Glamping gear. No matter the terrain, you got a fresh towel to go swimming with that will neither bring back sand or dirt to your tent, but also will dry by the time you get back. Then if you are feeling up to attending one of those festival yoga sessions in the morning, you have a compact mat with you! P.S., our favorite is the Bohemian style!
