Sampha has won the 2017 Mercury Prize with his album Process. He beat out fellow nominees The xx, Stormzy, Glass Animals, Blossoms, Ed Sheeran and others to win the prize. Idris Elba gave him the award and a £25,000 prize at an award ceremony tonight.

Artists who were nominated performed on the night. Stormzy recreated his album cover for a rendition of “First Things First,” while the eventual winner, Sampha came out and performed on his piano.

The award was given to Stormzy for his album Konichiwa in 2016, beating out other albums like those from the late David Bowie.
