Concert Review: King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard Brings High Energy To The Mohawk - Magnetic Magazine
Why everyone needs to snag tickets to see this band if they are in a city near you.

This seven-piece psychedelic-rock group definitely brought the heat to Austin, Texas, while they performed at Mohawk this past weekend. These dudes had a sold out show, and boy was the venue packed to complete capacity. Austin-based girl band, Sailor Poon, opened up for the Gizz boys before their set. They only have a few more shows in the states before they head back to Australia.

You could feel the excitement of the crowd as soon as King Gizzard stepped out on stage; people were shouting and jumping as much as they could through the packed crowd. TWO DRUMMERS? That's not something you see everyday. When the Aussies started playing the almost 8-minute long track "Rattlesnake," everybody was yelling along 'Rattle Rattle Rattle!'. A few other songs they performed were "The Lord of Lightning," "Robot Stop," "Doom City" and the "Alter Me"/"Alter Beast" suite from their Murder of the Universe record. The glitchy light-show throughout their performance added a great touch to the show. Fans were hyped up and I'm happy to say that crowd-surfing did occur.

King Gizzard is from Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The group had started out by just playing around, then it quickly turned into playing as King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard in 2010. So far, King Gizzard has released eleven studio albums. They plan on releasing four to five albums this year alone; they have already released three albums so far. Their latest album, Sketches of Brunswick East, was released on August 18th and features Mild High Club. This album is super unique because you can really hear the sounds from both bands interlacing, do yourself a favor and listen to it ASAP if you already haven't.
