UK producer Fabich is ready to break out. He released the soulful house cut "Hold On" in June. He is not the most prolific of acts, but makes each song count. He frequently works with Ferdinand Weber and released the stomping "One, Two" on The Magician's Potion imprint. He looks to take that momentum into the fall and 2018.
We were able to catch up with Fabich for an interview and get an hour-long mix from the producer. He includes selections from the likes of Tom Misch, Kaytranada, SG Lewis and Klahr.
Read on for the mix and interview.
You have done a lot collaborations in your career. What do you look for in someone to work with?
I think really important is that I am a fan of that person’s music myself, than collaborations are always fun because even if that person comes from another genre (or even decade!) it’s gonna be an interesting session and the song is gonna turn out great!
Are there people you would like to work with, especially outside of dance music?
Yes, I'd love to work with Pharrell or Goldlink and a lot more soul singers in the future!
How did you first get into dance music? What were some of the first records you heard?
The Loveparade was a really big techno festival in Berlin, Germany when I was growing up and I remember liking some of the more heavier techno tunes when I was a little kid. The album that really sparked my interest in Dance music was Daft Punks' Discovery with the cool little Anime Video Clips they had along with the amazing LP.
Would you consider yourself a DJ or producer first?
Even though I've DJed before I got into music production I'd consider myself a producer first because I spend almost everyday creating new music in the studio and working with other artists.
What went into this mix?
This mix has around 30 tracks and is a reflection of all the music I love and inspires me and ranges from old school hip hop, my own edits with classic RnB vocals and french house to all of my favorite artists right now such as Jafunk, Young Franco, Anderson Paak, Kaytranada. I also threw some more uptempo and disco stuff in there as well as the Sonny Fodera remix of my current single “Hold On” ft. Josh Barry
What is something people might not know about you?
Besides making music I love cooking and at some point in the future I'd love to open up a little cafe or restaurant somewhere sunny... :)
What do you have coming up?
During the last couple of months I've been working on a lot of new tunes that I'm really excited about and I can’t wait to show you all of the new music. My goal is to release one more single and an EP this year.
