Miami’s Black V Neck may be taking a subtle dig at dance music DJ culture with their name, but their fresh to death beats are nothing to joke about. Their debut on the fast-rising Audiophile XXL imprint is a clear sign that those V-necks go deep. “Voices In My Head” is carried by a heart-pounding kick and sub bassline that will make you weak in the knees. The boys have also carried out something generally unseen by a young act, crafting an infectious hook. Earworms like this do the trick of getting stuck in your head just enough that you have to play the tune again (and again) to relieve the itch.
The boys are following a trend of new(ish) artists who seem to appear out of nowhere with the connections at the ready to make a huge impact. With little more than a ninety-second snip of a collabo reposted to their SoundCloud, it may be hard to believe that they already scored support (and mentorship) from none other than Dirtybird’s Shiba San. These guys definitely know their way around the club.
