The Gaslamp Killer has had his long-standing Low End Theory residency and a slate of Australian shows canceled. The move comes after some pretty disturbing allegations have been leveled at the LA artist. Chelsea Elaynne accused William Benjamin Bensussen, better known as The Gaslamp Killer, of drugging and raping her and her friend at a party in 2013.
Bensussen released a statement saying that the sex was consensual, but the fallout has been swift for him. His famed Low End Theory residency in Los Angeles was canceled and the show in New York for Brooklyn Electronic Music Festival was swiftly canceled over the weekend. He was scheduled to perform at Melbourne New Year's Day event Let Them Eat Cake, Western Australia's Breakfast and New Zealand's Northern Bass festival, but the promoters, The Operatives, canceled his appearance. In a statement, they said the move was “their only option.” They continued, “Hopefully there will be some clarity on the entire case in the near future, and justice is served in truth. Be good to each other people, there is enough negativity in the world, and abuse of any kind is something that we will not tolerate in any way, shape or form.”
