The Top 15 House Tracks of October 2017 - Magnetic Magazine
An variety of modern house music fills up this month's chart.

Techno has been dominating the electronic music landscape lately but one listen to house music's best tracks of October will have you thinking otherwise. Especially due to what would seem is a resurgence in tech-house thanks to some especially relevant contributions from artists like English newcomer Latmun, Greek mainstay Mihalis Safras, and of course the house music master himself, Riva Starr!

1. "KUNU" - TRIKK [INNERVISIONS]

This past Junuary at Day Zero in Mexico, the Innervisions captain himself, Dixon spun a mysterious track that captured the Mayan jungle experience better than any tune that night. That particular psychedelic, tribal jam is "Kunu" and the master designer is a label regular known simply as Trikk.

2. "THE RIVER" - TENOVA [TOOLROOM RECORDS]

For the past couple of months, Pete Tong via Radio 1 has had this floor-filling slammer-jammer on heavy rotation. Out exclusively on the Toolroom Amsterdam 2017 compilation.

3. "REALITY" - TIM ENGELHARDT [FRYHIDE]

Tim Engelhardt's debut on H.O.S.H.'s newly-launched fryide imprint features four spectacular tracks including the title tune, "Reality" which some are calling a masterpiece including yours truly.

4. "RESILIENCE" - RIVA STARR PRESENTS HYPERLOOP [TRUESOUL]

On Truesoul's 100th landmark release they invite the Italian house maestro, Riva Starr for a brand new techno project he's calling Hyperloop. Call it house or techno if you want as this floor-burner will pleasantly fit in either genre.

5. "LF10" - DUSKY [17 STEPS]

Dusky is arguably the top house music duo on the planet and they are incapable of producing bad music as they return to their personally crafted 17 Steps imprint with a trio of smashing, floor-friendly tunes. Including this '90s inspired piece of euphoria they curiously call "LF10."

6. "BLADE RUNNER (DEE MONTERO'S NEO NOIR REDUX)" - DEE MONTERO [FREE DOWNLOAD]

In 1994, I picked up a fantastic Cosmic Baby dance edit of Vangelis' absolutely magical "End Titles" which was a piece of music taken from the original score of Blade Runner. Twenty-some odd year laters, I've found another amazing dance remix courtesy of Ibiza's own, Dee Montero

7. "FOOTSTEPS" - LATMUN FEAT. AMY DOUGLAS [HOT CREATIONS]

One of house music's fastest-rising stars at the moment is this fella from central England, known as Latmun. Here he is with the absolutely massive title track, "Footsteps" on Hot Creations

8. "1996" - SUPERLOVER [MOTHER RECORDINGS]

Get your groove on to this filter-disco jam courtesy of Germany's chart-topping house music duo, Superlover

9. "THEME FROM S'EXPRESS (DETLEF REMIX)" - S'EXPRESS [HOT CREATIONS]

With their 100th release now behind them, Hot Creations are ready to conquer the house music landscape. First up is a remix package of the 1988 acid house classic, "Theme From S'Express" which features three huge remixes especially this one. A modern revisit by Detlef which respectably retains a lot of the original elements and adding a modern flair by upping the tempo and compressing the kick.

10. "FEELIN'" - FRANCK D [KINDISCH]

Columbian house music export, Franck D lands on Kindisch with a pair of especially warm productions including this very deep cut he calls "Feelin'."

11. "IMMA'" - MIHALIS SAFRAS [RELIEF]

Material Series label-boss, Mihalis Safras returns to the legendary Relief imprint with a trio of weighty tunes that all would all easily stand up on their own as bona-fide singles.

12. "DOOR PRIZES'" - MIHALIS SAFRAS [RELIEF]

I couldn't let this chart go by with at least one more from Mihalis Safras' Consquences EP.

13. "CHANJIRA" - STUART KING [HIGH TIDE RECORDINGS]

For arguments sake, this euphoric composition probably falls more on the indie side than house music. However, it touches on some aspects of progressive so I felt it deserved a coveted spot in this month's best-of house chart.

14. "UNTITLED II" - FORT ROMEAU [DGTL]

The famed festival now record label as well, DGTL unleashes their second ever edition featuring two deep and dark tracks by the well-respected Fort Romeau

15. "LOVE AND HAPPINESS 2017 (KATE SIMKO REMIX)" - DJ PIERRE [GET PHYSICAL MUSIC]

DJ Pierre's Strictly Rhythm classic from 1991 gets an update from the man himself via Get Physical Music. In addition, the lovely Kate Simko gives the classic her own make-over which is a bit warmer and deeper than the former.
