For fans of Austin-based electronic, funk artist Eliot Lipp, his 2008 tune “Beamrider” is one of those instantly repeatable classics. Touching it is a tough one to do. However, Lipp asked Atlanta hybrid live electronic group Modern Measure to take on the track and they put together a remix that would make Lipp proud.
"’Beamrider’ to us is a classic. We've loved it since it debuted in 2008 and it always got us and Eliot's fans moving,” says Modern Measure to Magnetic. “We wanted to add some ATL swagger to it to reintroduce our scene to its' already killer future vibes. It's always a pleasure to work with Mr. Lipp and it was an honor to remix this one."
The remix is a smooth, spacey electronic mix that feels like you are riding on that original celestial beamrider, but there are a few turns being driven by Modern Measure that feel funky and refreshing. You bet it has the seal of approval from Lipp himself.
"Modern Measure brings this classic jam into the future with new layers of melody and 808 subs,” says Lipp. “I played a show with the MM boys last new years and they mentioned doing a remix, I really didn't expect it to be on this level."
Stream the remix below and if you are in Detroit this Friday, November 17th, head to The Loving Touch to see Eliot Lipp with Blockhead and Mux Moo. Get tickets here.
