Ibiza icon Tony Pikes, owner of the Pikes Hotel, has released a new tell-all memoir titled Mr. Pikes: The Story Behind The Ibiza Legend. The memoir dives into his relationships with musicians, celebrities and other people who would come to Ibiza like George Michael, Freddie Mercury, Julio Iglesias and lover Grace Jones.
At 83-years old, Pikes is now looking back on his life. Dubbed “the real Hugh Hefner” by Boy George, he owned the Pikes Hotel, which started as a farmhouse with no electricity, running water, sanitation and was built into major rock and roll hotel on the island.
“There are so many standout moments in the history of Pikes, significant events and star guests that have helped shape and define the hotel, but Freddie Mercury’s patronage typifies why Pikes became a success,” writes Pike in the book. “Like a lot of stars, Freddie was high maintenance, but I can safely say he was the greatest individual I have ever met in my life. Such a fascinating character.”
