Fabric is one of the world’s clubbing institutions. Its influence is felt subtly the world over in compilations, clubbing and more. There is the expression, if you can’t beat them, join them and that is what one Chinese club has done – sort of. A Fabric copycat has appeared according to reports and the likeness is a little too close for comfort.
According to Mixmag, the club has the exact same logo and name, down to the font. However, beyond stealing the brand, the similarities seem to end there. Whereas Fabric is revered for its curation, this just seems to pump out mindless EDM and other monotonous drivel.
According to Dutch DJ and promoter Bram van Ravenhorst, aka Blind ’92, the club is located in the Beibin Lu area of downtown Chongqing.
There also appears to be yet ANOTHER Fabric, but in Shanghai. From its Facebook page, Fabric has all of the signs of the club you would really want to avoid. The flyers are awful with big, colorful graphics that sloppily overlap, scantily clad women The Facebook page likely isn’t used much since most users can’t access it in China, but it is yet another bad club besmirching a very good name.
