Taking breakups to the dancefloor.

Swedish singer/songwriter Clara Mae has already worked with some pretty big names across the dance music spectrum, co-writing for Tiësto and David Guetta, while featuring on a big one with KREAM. Now her single “I’m Not Her” is making the rounds and getting a slew of remixes, including one from Hook N Sling, which we are happy to premiere for you today.

Anthony Maniscalco, better known as Hook N Sling, serves up a club-ready bit of house music with his remix, looping the hook, adding a two-steppin’ bassline with scattered percussion and risers.

“I really enjoyed reshaping this record,” remarks Hook N Sling to Magnetic. “I wanted to do something surprising, unexpected but still using the best parts from the original."

The original comes from a place you probably expect – a breakup where Mae is dealing with the thought of him with a new girl.

“The song concept came from breakup conversations during a writing session – about first getting over someone you’ve broken up with, and you hearing he’s met someone new! So many questions pop into your head, ‘what does she look like? she funny? he making the same memories with her as with me?’ After a lot of thinking, you realize that she’s nothing like you, and I’m not her.”

The remix will be released tomorrow, January 19 via Big Beat Records.
