Premiere: Ganz Flips Machinedrum 'Celestial Levels' Into Buoyant Bass Jam

GANZ does the original justice.

Dutch producer GANZ has expanded his discography to some big solo singles and collaborations, but many fans likely became familiar with him from his remixes or flips. Now he is taking those flipping talents to Machinedrum’s collaboration with Jesse Boykins III "Celestial Levels."

The flip adds a different vibe to the original, pitching the vocals, adding more frenetic drums and a buoyant, cheerful drop with shimmering synths. Pitched vocals and synth-heavy bass drops can be cliché and repetitive, but GANZ has put together something that delivers on the brilliance of the original and gives it new life.

“Every now and then I hear a song that instantly inspires me, this is one of those songs of which I immediately knew how I wanted to flip it,” GANZ tells Magnetic. “The vocals, instruments and the Machinedrum vibe in the original were just perfect to sample. I’ve put the bpms and the pitch up and the basis was there. I’ve been a bit quiet in 2017, this flip is just a small bite of all the music I’ve got lined-up for 2018."
