German born, Sitges-based (just outside of Barcelona) DJ Tini Gessler is ready for her moment. Signing on with Elrow, she has been Djing gigs around the world for several years now and is putting together an impressive discography to match. We are happy to unveil the latest addition with “Back Wood,” out this Friday via Cr2 Records. In addition to the new song premiere, we had a chance to catch up with Gessler and get to know her a little better.
“Back Wood” is a song with its mind to the dancefloor. It is a tech-house stomper with plenty of fire and backbone behind. On the b-side LiTeK speeds things up and adds a different feel to this club-ready tune for his remix.
We also caught up with Gessler to talk her beginnings in electronic music, plans for 2018 and how she ended up with Elrow.
"Back Wood" will be released this Friday, February 2. Pre-order it here.
How did you get your start in electronic music? What were some of the first records you listened to?
I’ve been interested in electronic music since I can remember but I never expected to be a professional DJ! About 4 years ago I started playing in a friends bar just for fun and it was just the best feeling making people happy so I never stopped! One of the first tracks I listened to and will always remember is “Man with the Red Face,” by Laurent Garnier. Also “Blue Monday” by New Order.
How did the relationship with Elrow start?
I started playing at elrow on their Ker Beach stage 2-3 times a year. Gradually the gigs started increasing and then they introduced me as a resident. Now I tour across the world with them playing stages from Tomorrowland to Amnesia- I feel so lucky!
What were looking to achieve with this single and EP?
I started producing last year and now I am really discovering my sound and what works for me. “Back Wood” is my best track so far and I am really proud about signing it to Cr2!
Why did you pick LiTek to remix “Back Wood?”
Litek is such a great producer- he is really up and coming and I thought his remix was perfect for the EP.
What is something people might not know about you?
My day to day life is so different from the clubbing world- I live on a farm in Sitges with my dogs, horses and pigs. Its such a contrast from the party scene!
What else do you have planned for 2018?
This year I am going to focus on producing and hope to release more EPs on my favorite labels. I’m looking forward to touring America and Asia and just playing in great festivals and parties around the world!
