If you watch Game of Thrones, Stranger Things or American Horror Story, you know just how important the music is to the show. Hell they are the types of soundtracks that have transcended the show. Music editor David Klotz handles those shows, but also has a side project as one half of synth-wave duo Dream System 8. We are happy to premiere their new single ‘”It’s All Happening” for you today.

"I started writing 'It's All Happening' on the Suzuki Omnichord. I love this style of songwriting because it sort of removes my classical piano training and lets me create more random and spontaneous chord progressions to build a song around,” says the other half of the duo Erika Elektra, a veteran musician herself.

The song is dreamy and synth-heavy with Elektra’s voice acting as a guide over the bed of floating synths and drums.

“It’s All Happening” comes from a familiar place of realizing that you need to live in the moment looking back on your life.

“Lyrically, the song is sort of an existential look at my life. I've always been fascinated by the concept of time, and how it is a line, moving forward in one direction. As I've gotten older, I can't help but look back on my life and see what I've done with my time, with my life. At the time I wrote the song, I was feeling quite alone and felt that the life I was living was nowhere near the life I thought I would lead,” explains Elektra.

“As a teenager, I had so many dreams and visions of the life I would have, and the reality of being an adult in my thirties, with a 'boring' day-job, raising a child on my own, was just not ever something that I thought would be me. Because someone close to me had died unexpectedly, I was thinking about how many things I've wanted to do, or things I've wanted to say to people, but haven't, and I was realizing that the time is NOW. Life is happening NOW. There is no time like the present to do and say all of those things."

The song is taken from the newly formed duo’s upcoming album We Sleep Again, which will be released on February 23 via Minty Fresh. The album was created on a large assortment of vintage instruments like Rolands, Korgs, and Yamahas, along with the Crumar Performer, LinnDrum LM-2, and Omnichord System 100. It is inspired by luminaries such as Vangelis, Duran Duran, The Human League and Tangerine Dream.

“It’s All Happening” will be officially released tomorrow, January 26.
