From Unter, to Analog to Hola, Avision, takes a deep dive into Brooklyn's clubbing scene.

New York City (even though he is from Staten Island) DJ and producer, Avision has started to make a name for himself with releases on Victor Calderone’s Matter+, Mark Broom’s Beardman Records and most recently, an EP Clips on Carlo Lio’s Edge Society. In honor of that EP and New York City, we asked Avision to give us his five favorite clubs and underground parties across Brooklyn. As someone’s whose music is for these spots, it only makes sense to get someone who knows the New York clubbing scene to give a guide. Read on for Avision’s guide to Brooklyn clubbing.

February of 2018, I got to experience the Chicago legend Rahaan play a six-hour set of disco, house, soul, funk etc. The night was nothing shy of amazing. Everyone everywhere was dancing; whether it be on the dance floor, bar or bathroom line. The vibe there is like is like no other in Brooklyn! I highly recommend you experience a night at Nowadays.

Another gem in the heart of Redhook, Brooklyn is Analog. They’ve had some great artists come through (Seth Troxler, Dubfire, Louie Vega, Four Tet, Frankie Bones & Many More). The night I went was for a Not All There Show w/ Truncate & Yan Cook headlining the night, they had the place rocking from start to finish w/techno bombs. The club has low ceilings, around a 400 person cap but still has the feeling of an intimate room, and to top it off has a great analog sound system.

Another party that’s really been blowing up in NYC when it comes to techno has been Unter- The bookings are always top notch from Randomer to Tommy Four Seven, almost always in a unknown warehouse location....and the flyers are great !

Output / Panther Room:

Output is a venue I’ve always respected. They’ve been the most consistent club in New York for the past 5 years. I had countless amazing nights there. Whether it’s ringing in the New Year with Victor Calderone, or going to check out one of my New York favorites, Anthony Parasole. I really respect the concept of giving DJs a residency. It’s a guarantee that I have the chance to experience a night better than the last. And seeing that Anthony holds a residency at Output is inspiring and admirable.

Another notable asset to Output is The Panther Room. The aesthetic and details always make me feel like I'm home. I believe that the intimate ones always have the most amazing vibe and Banter is just that . Over the summer I held my birthday party in there on a Thursday and the room was on fire. I couldn't have asked for a better party.

H0l0 is the type of venue where you can walk by at any time day or night and you won't know the madness that’s going on downstairs. Since the venue is located in the basement of a warehouse, you’re pretty much free to be who you are, as loud as you want, and disconnect from the outside world. Over the summer I popped in for a couple events. Most notable were the “Be Discreet” and "Groovy Groovy" parties. Totally different vibes but quality music showcasing the many sides of Brooklyn.
