15 Best Bass Music Tracks Of February 2018 - Magnetic Magazine
Dive into new tunes from What So Not, Keys N' Krates, Slander, Ganja White Night, DJ Zinc, and more.

Even with February only being 28 days, there is no shortage of fresh tunes coming from the bass music world. This month we explore tracks off of albums by Ganja White Night, What So Not, Keys N' Krates, and CloZee alongside new singles spanning the bass music spectrum.

1) ATLIENS - 'INTERSTELLAR' (FEAT. SARA SKINNER) [ORACLE MUSIC]

The mysterious silver masked duo by the name of ATLiens bring a blend of funky, experimental bass on their "Interstellar" single. The track opens with deceptively soft, melodic chords coupled with Sara Skinner's smooth and wistful vocals. The dynamic changes swiftly with the onslaught of heavy-hitting percussion and robotic synths that drive the track home.

2) GANJA WHITE NIGHT & ZEDS DEAD - 'SAMURAI' [DEADBEATS/SUBCARBON]

Belgian bass duo Ganja White Night are back with their sophomore album The Origins. The lead single "Samurai" is a collab with Deadbeats head honchos Zeds Dead. The track starts off subdued with soft piano chords before dropping into a swinging dirty bass banger.

3) SLANDER & SAYMYNAME - 'I CAN'T ESCAPE' FT. FELI FERRARO [INSOMNIAC]

LA based duo SLANDER teams up with SAYMYNAME on their single "I Can't Escape" on Insomniac Records. Featuring the impassioned, breathy vocals of Feli Ferraro, the track builds upon soothing, emotive piano melodies before it hits you with stabbing basslines and an assaulting audio attack.

4) LOUIS THE CHILD & WHETHAN - 'CHOP IT UP'

"Chop it up" is the lead track from Louis The Child & Whethan's Honey Mixtape. The Chicago artists bring us a bright future bass tune with smooth and catchy pop sensibilities.

5) KEYS N KRATES - 'MUSIC TO MY EARS' FEAT. TORY LANEZ [DIM MAK]

Toronto based Keys N Krates have built quite a name for themselves with anthems like "Dum Dee Dum" and "Keep it 100." "Music To My Ears," off their debut album Cura, is shaping up to be a future anthem that features the vocals of Tory Lanez and melds the realms of soulful electronic bass with R&B.

6) CHAMPAGNE DRIP & 9 THEORY - 'CIRCLES' FEAT. ASHLEY MAZANEC [DEADBEATS]

Champagne Drip recently dropped his 4 track EP Jovian Days for Deadbeats and it's a diverse collection of bass movers. "Circles," a collab with 9 Theory, lies in the future bass lane with Ashley Mazanec's uplifting vocals drifting over warm stuttering low end.

7) MINNESOTA - HILOW (CHARLESTHEFIRST REMIX) [WAKAAN]

Berkeley based Minnesota hands over remix duties to fellow northern Cali producer CharlestheFirst on the single "HiLow," and the results don't disappoint. CharlestheFirst takes the original space wobbler and puts it through a dirty funked up bass grinder.

8) WHAT SO NOT - 'BEAUTIFUL' (FEAT. WINONA OAK) [COUNTER]

The anticipation is high for What's So Not's debut album, Not All The Beautiful Things, forthcoming on Counter Records on March 9th. The latest single to drop "Beautiful," is a mesmerizing bass house thumper. WSN states about the track, "Beautiful" enters delicately with Winona's internal dialog. There's a sense of optimism, anxiousness & longing, but also an undertone of sadness. All reinforced with the incredible duality along her vocal range. It’s always intrigued me how this song evokes such a feeling of freedom & open space yet the protagonist sounds quite troubled. I think the hypnotic & intoxicating energy of the production also adds to this perplexity."

9) VATO GONZALEZ FEAT. SCRUFIZZER - 'BUMP & GRIND' (BASSLINE RIDDIM) [SPINNIN']

Vato Gonzalez's 2017 anthem "Bassline Riddim" gets a superb rework from UK producer & MC Scrufizzer, who keeps the bubbling bassline intact alongside his grimey vocals and driving rhythm. Expect this tune to be rinsed out at a dancefloor near you.

10) DJ ZINC & CHRIS LORENZO - GAMMY ELBOW (VIP) [BINGO BASS]

Bingo Bass head honcho DJ Zinc is back with Birmingham-based Chris Lorenzo on their VIP edit of their club smasher "Gammy Elbow." Don't miss the flipside as Japanese dnb producer Makoto steps up to remix the massive 'When I.'

11) GHASPER - 'SATELITTE' [BABYGRANDE]

Las Vegas based producer Ghasper recently released his debut EP Mima on the Babygrande imprint. The lead single“Satellite” is a cerebral piano-infused piece that bridges future bass and IDM.

12) ROYAL T - 'DISTORTION' [ROYAL-T MUSIC]

Southampton bred producer Royal-T , who is also one third of TQD, has become renowned for his trademark blend of garage and grime music. His latest track "Distortion" is a UK Garage bouncer that doesn't let up its throttle.

13) CLOZEE - SECRET PLACE (MEGAN HAMILTON REMIX) [GRAVITAS RECORDINGS]

Following the success of her "Harmony" release, French producer CloZee has assembled an eclectic cast of musicians to produce reimagined versions for "Harmony Remixes" on Austin-based imprint Gravitas. "Secret Place" gets an ethereal future bass rework from Minneapolis producer and vocalist Megan Hamilton.

14) MHD - 'BRAVO" (Rawtek Remix) [MAD DECENT]

Mad Decent's MHD is at the forefront of the afrotrap scene. His latest release aptly titled Afro Trap (Mad Decent Remixes) is a four song EP featuring remixes from Major Lazer, TroyBoi, Versano Laroz, and the standout "Bravo" Rawtek Remix.

15) QUIX - 'I’ll Give You The World' ft. JVMIE [DIM MAK]

Rounding out the February chart is an infectious future bass track from New Zealand trap star QUIX, who brings us a twisted synth heavy workout on his latest release for Dim Mak.
