New York synthpop duo Holy Ghost is premiering a shot documentary series at Tribeca Film Festival 2018. Ben Fries, who directed 10 of Holy Ghost’s music videos including from the Crime Cutz EP, teamed up with Alden Nusser to crate a 17-minute, four-part documentary on the people and their stories that appeared in the music videos. It profiles people from varying backgrounds and their connection to dance and music.
Holy Ghost!’s Alex Frankel explains, “Two of the four stories told in Crime Cutz are about dance, specifically about what happens when you’re technically ‘too old’ to be a dancer or your style is no longer ‘en Vogue.’ In both cases - one about a group of people keeping the Hustle alive and another about a 90+ year old dancer - the healing power of dance and movement are affirmed in full. In New York City there’s always a new, young dance and music movement - which is great. But here, we found an opportunity to highlight older, forgotten members of New York’s dance community who are just as important, vital, and alive as anyone else.”
The film will be premiered as part of the Tribeca N.O.W. Showcase on April 19th and April 21 at the Regal Battery Park Stadium 11. Get more info here.
