When it comes to raving and techno, Iran is, or has, probably never been a place you'd ever think of. In fact, it's the exact opposite, for many reasons. Reasons that lead to eventual creation of legendary duo Deepdish. But that was then, and this is now. Things have changed greatly since those days, but raving and electronic music are still things that just do not fit. Or do they? Iranian duo Blade & Beard have fought tool and nail to create something from nothing, and their success has begun to really pay off. There's that saying that pressure creates diamonds, and the launch of their label Futurist was proof of that.
Their latest release comes from fellow Iranian producer DSM, and he faithfully continues the trend of darker and more melodic techno. DSM's productions are mainly inspired by his personal and emotional experiences in life as well as his homeland's limitations towards music and clubbing, something that can be spotted in this EP full of unpredictable emotions. And while things have definitely improved, there is still a long way to go before any real club scene could thrive. The upside of this, is that these are the perfect conditions for a vibrant and close knit underground scene to grow and thrive.
Our premiere today, and third Lights/Out premiere overall, is DSM's track 'Draw In Your Sleep'. Haunting pads floating above dubby and tribal percussion create an eerie and strange atmosphere, that sounds familiar to those strange dreams you have over and over. Check out the track below, and be sure to support the growing artist with his socials.
