Simian Mobile Disco will cancel their upcoming tour dates in America as a result of a Jas Shaw’s AL amyloidosis’ diagnosis.
In a series of posts, Shaw and the duo shared the news, which will stop them from touring for some time.
Jas is currently undergoing chemotherapy and receiving treatment for the disease. "AL amyloidosis is a rare disease caused by abnormal deposition and accumulation of proteins in the tissues of the body," reads the group’s official statement.
“He is receiving treatment but unfortunately this means is not able to tour, and we have reluctantly decided that SMD’s live performances will have to be put on hold for at least a few months,” says the duo.
They were scheduled to tour in America this June, but have canceled. There is no confirmed date as to when Jas may return.
“I’m still getting my head around it and don’t know how things are going to progress but it turns out that the people that I know are lovely and have been very supportive,” Jas says.
We wish Jas a speedy recovery and to find out more about the disease, check out the UCL Amyloidosis research fund and donate if you choose to. They are planning on going ahead with their Murmurations show on April 4 in London and profits will benefit the UCL Amyloidosis research fund. Their new album Murmurations will be released on May 11.
