Avicii’s family has released a second statement this week. In the statement, they write “he struggled with thoughts about Meaning, Life, Happiness. He could not go on any longer. He wanted to find Peace.” They also call him “a fragile artistic soul.”
The statement comes from Variety, who says it is translated from Swedish. The wording in Swedish according to them makes the letter even more overt, however no cause of death has been determined or confirmed at this time.
Avicii died on April 20 in Oman at the age of 28. Since then, tributes have poured in from all across music, politics and entertainment from those who knew him and those who were touched by his music. As one of the biggest superstars in EDM and a pioneer in the genre for a generation of fans, the tragic news touched millions of fans around the globe.
Police have reportedly ruled out any foul play in his death and a police report is expected in the next few days.
Magnetic reached out to Avicii’s publicist for further clarification on the statement and they did not have any further news on the matter. Read the full statement below.
Stockholm, 26 April 2018
Our beloved Tim was a seeker, a fragile artistic soul searching for answers to existential questions.
An over-achieving perfectionist who travelled and worked hard at a pace that led to extreme stress.
When he stopped touring, he wanted to find a balance in life to be happy and be able to do what he loved most – music.
He really struggled with thoughts about Meaning, Life, Happiness.
He could not go on any longer.
He wanted to find peace.
Tim was not made for the business machine he found himself in; he was a sensitive guy who loved his fans but shunned the spotlight.
Tim, you will forever be loved and sadly missed.
The person you were and your music will keep your memory alive. We love you,
