Justin Jay has teamed up with Ulf Bonde on a new project titled Transatlantic Untz, set for release on Friday via Catz ‘n Dogz PETS Recordings. We are happy to premiere Justin Jay’s solo production from the EP for you today titled ”Land Ahoy!”
As someone who takes a lot of his inspiration and naming from the sea, the name makes a lot of sense. It is a minimalist, stripped back composition with fluttering analog synth notes in the background to the moving bass and some cow bell.
“Ulf and I made these songs just before we finished school and he returned back to Sweden. We were roommates for 2 years in college and informed each other’s taste in dance music,” explains Jay to Magnetic. “Towards the end of our time together Ulf began championing a stripped down minimal sound. He was hugely inspired by A:RPIA:R, I got super into Perlon and we ended up making these songs.”
“Land Ahoy!” is one of three songs on the upcoming Transatlantic Untz EP with Ulf Bonde, which will be released this Friday, April 27. You can pre-order yourself a copy here.
