People really like vinyl, not just any old vinyl, but some really expensive vinyl too. In 2017, people spent over $200 million on Discogs, an online retailer and database for vinyl and other physical sources of music, according to the BBC.

About 10 million items were sold on Discogs last year, so that comes out to about $20 a pop, but there were also some really expensive collectors items that went up in the thousands of dollars as well.

That is not all the news with Discogs. They have revealed the stats from their first quarter in 2018. Kendrick Lamar's DAMN was the most collected new release over Q1, while Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon sits as the most collected catalog release.

The Beatles “Love Me Do” 7” vinyl single was the most expensive by a long shot, selling for $10,502. It is followed by Pet Shop Boys Yes 11x Vinyl Box set, which sold for $7,337.17, Gorilla Biscuits self-titled 7” limited edition repress and then Prince Black Album.
