Grammy award winning producer Fred Rister released his final single “I Want A Miracle” with Chris Willis and Sam Martin in March. Rister is currently battling several cancers, which he told Billboard in April, are tragically “irreversible.” So in honor of this last piece of music, he asked UK producer, KC Lights to make a remix and we have the pleasure of premiering it for you today.
The remix strips back some of the funkier and melodic elements and speeds things up for a proper house groove. KC Lights adds some soft pads over a jogging bassline, while keeping Sam Martin’s sad, yet uplifting vocal and Chris Willis’ “I Need A Miracle” echoes in the background.
“I was honored that I was asked to be involved in this project,” KC Lights says to Magnetic. “Fred Rister has made such an impact with his contributions to music and I’m sure this song will find many more hearts. Delighted I was given the opportunity to put my spin on it.”
In addition to his own solo work in the 1990s and early 2000s, Rister worked frequently with David Guetta, helping to produce massive, worldwide smashes like “When Love Takes Over,” Memories” with Kid Cudi, “Getting’ Over You,” “Who’s That Chick” featuring Rihanna” and “Club Can’t Handle Me” with Flo Rida. Name the record and he probably helped produce it. He also worked with the Black Eyed Peas on tracks like “I Got A Feeling.”
"This song has meant so much to me,” Rister remarks to Magnetic. “I am so happy and thankful that KC Lights has come on to help give it another special moment."
The KC Lights remix of “I Want A Miracle” from Fred Rister, Sam Martin and Chris Willis will be released tomorrow, May 11 via Parametric Records. All proceeds will benefit the Kidney Cancer Association.
