A Studio 54 documentary was premiered at Sundance and quite a bit of buzz was created about the film that takes a look into the meteoric rise and fall of one of the most influential clubs ever in the world. Now a trailer has been released to give viewers a taste of what they might see.
The trailer teases the glitz and glamour of the club with some of the celebrities who would come through the door for the sex, drugs and great music. It begins to explore the rise and eventual fall of club as Ian Schrager and Steve Rubell attempted to navigate New York nightlife, but would run into issues with law enforcement.
It features never before seen footage from inside the club, interviews with the owners and some of those who performed there like Nile Rogers.
The official synopses reads: “Studio 54 was the epicenter of 70s hedonism—a place that not only redefined the nightclub, but also came to symbolize an entire era. Its co-owners, Ian Schrager and Steve Rubell, two friends from Brooklyn, seemed to come out of nowhere to suddenly preside over a new kind of New York society.
“Now, 39 years after the velvet rope was first slung across the club’s hallowed threshold, a feature documentary tells the real story behind the greatest club of all time.”
