Choon, the largest music-streaming platform powered by the blockchain has unveiled a new feature. It is now offering monetized playlists, where artists and curators who made the playlist will be able to receive payment for the streams on it.
Any Choon user can create playlists with the 6,000 tracks on the platform and receive Choon NOTES cryptocurrency on a daily basis. Artists are able to engage in this, setting a percentage they are willing to give to each curator.
“This is the first time playlists can be monetized natively within a streaming platform. It’s a total game changer," says Gareth Emery, Choon co-founder in a statement.
"Not only can fans get paid for sharing great playlists, but bloggers no longer need to rely on cumbersome adverts and external sites to monetize their musical taste: instead, they can simply use Choon and get a cut direct from the artist’s streams.”
Editor’s note: Our founder, David Ireland is on Choon's board.
