Live Nation Acquire Texas Concert Promoter & Festival Producer Scoremore Shows:

The rich get richer. Live Nation has acquired another concert and festival promoter in the United States. Live Nation has acquired a majority stake in in the largest independent concert promoter and festival producer in Texas, which puts on events like JMBLYA, Neon Desert Music Festival, Mala Luna Music Festival, as well as launching J. Cole’s Dreamville Music Festival. Scoremore Shows was launched in 2010 and has since grown into one of the largest independent promoters in the United States and around the South.

Pandora Launches $14.99/Month Family Plan:

Pandora has launched a $15 per month family plan that it hopes will allow them to compete with Apple Music & Spotify who offer similar plans. It allows six individuals to get onto Pandora Premium, which comes out to $2.50 / month per person. The family plan allows for premium service access, in addition to sharing music and personalized playlists. Spotify first introduced their plan in 2014 and Apple Music followed up shortly thereafter.

Apple Music Reportedly Launches Global Music Publishing Division:

Apple Music is launching a new global music publishing division internally according to Music Business Worldwide. Longtime legal and licensing specialist Elena Segal, who had previously been the legal director of iTunes International, will lead the division. The team will be split into sub-divisions including, publisher relations, commercial, operations & A&R. This would be for developing songwriters, rather than signing them. It isn’t totally clear what they plan on doing with this division, but having publishing and access to more songwriters could be an added tool for artists and the service.

Lollapalooza Expands With Stockholm Festival:

Lollapalooza continues its global expansion with a new festival next summer in Stockholm. The festival will debut June 28-29, 2019 at Gärdet, a park in the center of the Swedish city. “The historic Gärdet and the iconic festival Lollapalooza are the perfect match. For decades we have been wanting to do a really big festival in Stockholm and we are very honored and excited to do this together with Charles Attal and his team at C3 Presents,” said Thomas Johansson, Chairman International Music, Live Nation in a release. This follows their other festivals in Santiago, Paris, Berlin, Buenos Aires and Sao Paolo.
