Brooklyn producer Codes is prepping a new release “Something Massive” on Golf Clap’s label Country Club Disco, bringing his bumping brand of house music to the revered label. We are happy to premiere the Steve Darko remix of “Something Massive” today before it is released tomorrow.
Steve Darko comes in and takes the song in a darker direction. He adds stuttering and hypnotizing key work over a steady, dark and thumping bassline.
"I had a blast working on this remix! I left the vocal cuts from the original pretty much untouched and built the rest of the tune around those to create a different vibe,” Steve Darko says to Magnetic Mag. “My favorite part of the track is the breakdown - it’s much longer than what I would normally write, but it leaves some room for Codes’ vinyl scratches to shine thru in the front half. In the back half of the breakdown I rocked the pitch bend of a bass synth up and down until it eventually releases into the ‘drop.’ Big ups to Codes and Golf Clap for asking me to do this remix!"
Codes “Something Massive” along with the Westend and Steve Darko remixes will be released tomorrow via Country Club Disco.
