Montreal DJ and producer Fred Everything is gearing up to release his summery house album Long Way Home this Thursday, June 21, fittingly the summer solstice. We are happy to premiere the second song from the record “by Day,” a soothing, jazzy house record with a soft female vocal from Sio. In addition to the new song you can listen to below, we also had Fred Everything give us a guide to some of his favorite places to go over the summer.
Fred Everything takes us to Croatia, Ibiza and Mallorca to share some of his favorite places to go out, eat and hang out while he is at each destination. If you are heading on a vacation to Croatia, Ibiza or Mallorca this summer or the next, take heed of Fred Everything’s recommendations. Listen to snippets of Long Way Home.
I DJ every year at the Defected festival in Tisno so we always spend a few days there. You can start by having some food in the Tisno village at one of the Konobas (like Konoba Tereza). Most of them offer a similar menu and are all about the same quality standard, which relies on fresh ingredients. For us, grilled fish is always a winner. Then head to The Garden resort, where the festival is held. It’s a beautiful space by the water with up to 4 stages of music. We love that they added a vegetarian food truck this year and we also love their in house brewed beer. For the late night, take a bus to Barbarella. Arguably one of the best outdoors club in Europe at the moment. I have very fond memories of closing the night until 6am there 2 years ago.
My favorite part of Ibiza has always been as far away from the city center as possible. While I enjoy playing there, once I’m done, I’d rather hang, and be out exploring the island. For a nice Paella by the beach and a breathtaking view, head to Cala D’Hort on the west side of the island. As you might know, Ibiza is all about the sunset vibes. For a great sunset, head North from there to Sunset Ashram. If you want to rent a villa, Santa Eulalia is also a beautiful area to stay.
I love Mallorca. I’ve been going almost every year since the early 2000’s. I love taking a car around the island. Lately, we’ve been staying with a friend in the village of Alaro, which I would recommend visiting. For a nice day out, start at Ponderosa Beach near Alcudia. I love the food and the drinks there and I get to play some nice balearic music during the afternoon. For dinner, head to Palma for Vermuteria La Rosa for a nice modern take on classic Spanish tapas (check out their octopus!) and vermouth based drinks. While in Palma, don’t forget to check out Garito Cafe to hear some of the finest selection of European DJs, curated by my friend Nacho Velasco for 20 years now.
