Bob Moses got the world ready for a new album when they dropped their first new single in two years “Heaven Only Knows” at the end of May. Now it is official. The Los Angeles-based duo has announced their new album Battle Lines along with its tracklist and release date, and released the second LP single, “Back Down.”

“Back Down” is the second single to emerge from Battle Lines (though the label is trying to push it as the first official single. Marketing plans are weird.) "Back Down" has a bit more of a summery feel to it than a lot of their other records, though it still has that calmness found in a Bob Moses record.

Bob Moses Battle Lines will be released on September 14 via Domino Records, the same label that released their breakout album Days Gone By in 2015. Battle Lines was recorded in Los Angeles’ Laurel Canyon, inspired by their time on the road.

“This record is about the battles and struggles we all live through,” say Tom Howie and Jimmy Vallance in a statement. “Battles within ourselves, battles with and within our society, battles between each other, with our loved ones, battles between ideologies. It’s also about struggling to identify where those battles lines start and end, and what within us and within our environments cause these struggles, and ultimately cause our suffering. It’s also about the struggle to reconcile with those things, somehow.”

Battle Lines is available in digital format and also CD & limited colored LP formats. The duo are heading out on a long tour of North America this fall, which you can find the tour dates here.
