Little Dragon is known for making music that doesn’t always fit into a neat little, well-defined box. They bring that attitude to a new for UK downtempo, vocal electronic and scoring duo Solomon Grey and their track “The Game,” flipping the tune into a quirky, clubby record. "The Game" is taken from Solomon Grey's new album Human Music.
Little Dragon remake the tune in their own vision, recreating the instrumental with heavily reverbed percussion and dark bass stabs. They practically rip up the original blueprint and reconstruct the song, keeping a little bit of the vocal to float along on top of the record. The song slowly builds to an eventual climax towards the end with a funky bassline and grinding sub-bass, mixed in with some of the earlier elements they created for a worthwhile finale to this remix.
“Little Dragon were always the band we played in the studio. Over and over again we would listen and try to figure out how they got the sounds they did,” Joe Wilson of Solomon Grey tells Magnetic in a statement. “I still dance every week to ‘My Step’ with my wife and kids, they are getting pretty good at counting in the second drop now.”
The Little Dragon remix is taken from the Human Remix EP that will also include reworks from Nightmares On Wax and Alex Somers." The Human Remix EP will be released on August 17.
