The 15 Best Hip-Hop Tracks Of July 2018

Summer stays hot with new music from Lou The Human, YG, A$AP Rocky, Chance The Rapper, Childish Gambino & Many More.

I'm not really sure what happened to the summer of 2018 but somehow, it's already August which means it's time to break down the best tracks of last month and get you caught up on anything you might have missed. While I'm always looking for tracks that are making noise in the streets, this month I'm also featuring songs that might make you think or feel some type of way. Hip-Hop is really one of the most diverse genres in music and right now we are starting to see some new styles gain popularity which in my opinion is always a good thing. So without further adieu, please enjoy the best Hip Hop tracks of last month!

*These tracks are in no particular order

1. Lou The Human - F*ck Your Opinion

The hype behind Lou is real and while I've never posted about him on Magnetic before, I've had my ears open for the young spitter's sound for quite some town now. With so many rappers sounding exactly the same, Lou's voice and bars are refreshing and real. If you were ever into Cage Kennel then you might be into Lou The Human and if you don't know who Cage Kennel is, then you have some homework to do.

What year is it again? This almost sounds like something ATCQ could fuck with and I am not mad at that at all! The vibes that Denzel Curry creates on his new album really are a work of art. I know I've been teasing tracks from this project (TABOO | TA13OO Act 1: Light) for a while, but this song really put me over the top and this just might be one of my top albums of the year so far!

3. Chance The Rapper - I Might Need Security

Chance blesses his fans with 4 new songs in the month of July but "I Might Need Security" was by far my favorite. The song is dope but does anyone else miss Acid Raps Chance as much as I do? I'll take what I can get but I might have to go put that on after I finish this post.

4. Jesus Honcho - Depression Hotline

Another newcomer to the monthly chart, Jesus Honcho has a very dope sound, combining his song style, attuned lyrics over stripped-down beats that just feel like they belong together. He has a couple of songs with way more streams than "Depression Hotline," but this was my favorite track from his new EP 7 Vibez.

5. YG - Handgun feat. A$AP Rocky

Sometimes you just need some good trapping music and YG is really never going to let you down in that department. His new album Stay Dangerous is now available on Spotify & Apple Music.

6. Wifisfuneral - Death wish

Soundcloud rapper turned XXL Freshmen class member Wifisfuneral drops "Death Wish," which I'm guessing was a leftover or a track that didn't make his recently released project Ethernet. I love the simple beat on this one which reminds me of an old video game.

 Pi’erre Bourne - Marie Curie

Probably known more for his production credits, Pi'erre Bourne is an artist that the industry has been talking about for a while now. His new project The Life of Pi’erre 4 should be dropping pretty soon and "Marie Curie" is a well-produced song where Pi'erre gets to show off his singing voice (which covered in autotune isn't too bad!).

8. Wiz Khalifa & Alchemist- Universal Studios

Well, this one was not expected! Alchemist has always been one of my favorite producers and I've been riding with Wiz since Prince of The City so seeing these two team up is pretty awesome. It helps that the song is actually good!

9. Miguel - Python

You know I had to sneak at least 1 R&B track on the chart this month and who better to represent than Miguel? Miguel put on an amazing set at Coachella this year and if you can get a chance to catch him on his upcoming "The Ascension Tour" you should go for sure!

10. G Herbo & Southside - Some Nights

This is one of the many dope tracks that you can find on G Herbo & Southside's joint project Swervo which is now available. I'm a sucker for Southside's production as he never overdoes it. The beat speaks for its self and combined with Herbo's flows you get a perfect match.

11. Tunji Ige - Roll Out

"On My Grind" was my fucking jam forever and I have to say that it has been forever since I've seen Tunji Ige pop up on my playlist. As he gears up for his next project, Tunji "leaked" his latest track "Roll Out" and he just might be on to something.

12. 24 Dollas feat. Ty Dolla $ign- Still Down

Is there a rapper out there that Ty Dolla $ign hasn't made a song with? You know I'd be more upset if most of them weren't fire. For this one 24 Hours joins Ty on "Still Down" which is just the first song for the new collaborative project. I'm sure we will be hearing more soon!

13. Childish Gambino - Summertime Magic

Summertime is one of two new tracks that we got from Childish Gambino in July as part of his Summer Pack. They are both great but I liked "Summertime Magic" more so here it is! You can also check out "Feels like Summer" here

14. Buddy feat. Khalid- Trippin

Buddy has had a huge year as far as collabs go and he continues to go big with Khalid on his latest track "Trippin." I'm a huge Buddy fan and if you haven't checked out his album Harlan & Alondra then you need to click this link right now.

15. Dom Kennedy - Best Friend

Dom Kennedy refuses to slow down. After releasing his latest mixtape Addicted To The Underground a few weeks back, we now get a new single with "Best Friend."
