Afropunk Announces Talk Series, Club Nights, Zine Launch & Art Exhibit In Brixton To Start September

Afropunk has announced a Brixton takeover starting September with a slew of events at various events across South London. There will be a talk series, a zine launch and art gallery and club nights.

The talk series will take place at The Department Store from September 3 to September 8 with speakers like London Mayor Sadiq Khan, Samuel Eni, Ekow Eshun, Jocelyn Yeboah-Newton, and many other forward thinking and influential individuals. The talks will focus on culture, colonialism, mental health, business and more from a black British perspective.

There will be a zine release and art exhibition on Monday, September 3 at Gallery, with the exhibit continuing until September 7 with art from 198 CAL’s disciplinary art program and others.

There will also be two parties on September 7 and 8 at Electric Brixton and O2 Academy with some big names like Frost Greene (Robert Glasper, Common & Karriem Riggins), Jazzie B, Laura Mvula and more.
