Damon Albarn spoke to Austrian radio station Radio FM4, and said he has another Gorillaz album in the bank. The group took nearly a decade to release an album before Humanz in 2017 and then The Now Now this year. But apparently that is not all he and Jamie Hewlett have in store for the world.
Elaborating on the fact, he spoke about how he has been writing nearly a song a day, using the process as a diary of sorts. In his ideal world he would be able to write a song and then put it out, but that isn’t how things work.
“I have another one [Gorillaz album] as well, but I know I’m not going to be allowed to even think about recording or putting it out this year,” Albarn explains (via Billboard). He also goes on to say that in October he will be getting back together with his super group The Good, The Bad & The Queens, so there may be further delays. “In October, after I play in America, I’ll be starting The Good, The Bad & The Queen again… I don’t know. It’s there. If I get the time, or if anyone wants it, it’s there.”
We will see if this gets released at some point soon, but it doesn’t seem likely that the machine will want to rush this album so soon after The Now Now.
