UPDATE 9/21/18: The festival has been rescheduled for April 6 at Dorothea Dix Park in Raleigh, North Carolina. Ticket information can be found on the festival website.
J. Cole’s inaugural Dreamville Festival was scheduled to take place this weekend in Raleigh, North Carolina, but unfortunately because of Hurricane Florence, J. Cole and the festival was forced to cancel. Hurricane Florence is currently on track to make landfall early Friday as a strong Category 3 Hurricane in the Carolinas and up to Virginia. It will be one of the strongest hurricanes to hit the East Coast this late in the year in decades.
Among those originally scheduled to perform included SZA, Big Sean, Young Thug, Nelly, Teyana Taylor, Saba, Rapsody and Bas. J. Cole was the main headliner. The festival was scheduled to take place this Saturday, September 15, but obviously this was the only and correct choice. They are apparently looking for a makeup date, but the festival is canceled at this time and refunds are being given to all ticketholders.
"Due to safety concerns regarding dangerous weather, we are extremely saddened to announce today that the inaugural Dreamville Festival 2018 is being cancelled,” writes a statement from the festival.
“Our team has been working tirelessly with officials from the City of Raleigh, along with our State and Federal Partners, among others, to monitor the potential negative impact of Hurricane Florence. With the current weather-related information at hand, we have together decided to cancel this year’s event for the ultimate safety of both the local citizens and festival attendees.
Rest assured, we are doing everything in our power to make this event happen at a later time and we hope to share details regarding a possible new event date as soon as we possibly can.”
Se the full statement below that also has full info on how to get a refund. If you are in the path of Hurricane Florence, listen to your local authorities and evacuate if you are being told to and stay safe.
