Massive Attack have announced there are reissuing their seminal album Mezzanine for its 20 year anniversary. The reissue will be re-mastered and arrive with an album of previously unreleased dub mixes by Mad Professor. It will be released as a 2CD and 3LP super deluxe edition only, so be prepared for a lot of Massive Attack coming into your collection.
Many of the Mad Professor remixes were supposed to released as a full remix album, but never did and instead they only released a few on single b-sides. There will be eight in total, including two dub mixes of tracks not included on Mezzanine, but from the same period – “’Metal Banshee – a dub version of 'Superpredators' which was a cover of Siouxie and the Banshee’s 'Metal Postcard' – and 'Wire,' a track they recorded for the soundtrack of the film Welcome to Sarajevo,” a statement reads.
Pitchfork notes that the sets will be housed in a “heat sensitive box,” which changes colors when exposed to hear and will also arrive with exclusive images from Nick Knight and the Massive Attack’s own Robert Del Naja.
Pre-orders can be found via Pledge Music here. The 2xCD set will be released on November 16th and the 3xLP vinyl box set will drop on November 30th.
