Live electronic duo and DJs, Mont Blvck, real names Jackson Englund and Diego Cuevas Casale, are prepping the release of their new single “Letting Go” via their own label Gari Recs. To go along with the single release, they have tabbed three different acts to remix the track -- Huxley, Martinet (Huxley’s melodic techno alias) and Franky Rizardo. We are happy to give our readers the Martinet remix two days early before the whole package is released on Friday.
Martinet flips the atmospheric house record into a melodic techno tune that fits with what Martinet is doing at the moment, keeping much of the vocal intact. It starts soft and eventually builds into a dancefloor-ready techno song as percussion ricochets around the listener and Martinet adds some reverb on the vocal to add to the melody.
“We started writing ‘Letting Go’ on a late night at the studio. We wanted to empower people to embrace change, while keeping enough space to let the music speak for itself. Martinet (AKA Huxley) has been a good friend of ours for a few years now. When we played with him last in Los Angeles we spoke about 'Letting Go' and he was down for the collaboration,” Mont Blvck explains to Magnetic.
“When we first reached out to him for the remix his turnover rate on ideas was extremely fast giving us a bunch of solid ideas to choose from. We were super stoked to get two remixes from him under his two different aliases. The Martinet remix takes things to a darker place creating the perfect mix of sounds for the release. A certified gem for the late nights to come, so close your eyes and enjoy the ride!”
At seven minutes, the song continues to build and eventually descends into a dark room, fitting as the temperature starts to eventually move towards sweater weather.
The remix is part of a package for “Letting Go,” which will be released on Friday, September 21 alongside other remixes from Huxley and Franky Rizardo. It is the follow up to Mont Blvck’s first single on Gari Recs "Rising," which features all five members from the Gari Collective, Matt Ossentjuk, Anabel Englund, Human Life and Mont Blvck. The label was set up as an extension of their event brand, Gari Safari.
