I'm excited to premiere a spectacular edit off the b-side of the cassette tape (oh my goodness I didn't think I'd ever be able to write that). The Funk District, owner of budding label Mandrill Cuts, delivers a funky fine edit whose name, "Mesmerized," does the production healthy justice. With a light hand he brings fresh dance-floor appeal to the astounding classic. It's got strings, killer bass-lines, and ageless disco vocals that make it very clear why we're here. Its time to groove.

2018 is a strange time. But, amongst all this insanity, there are beautiful examples of how close weirdness is to awesomeness. On October 1st, this world will be graced with a wonderful gift. Cauldron Vol. 1. is the first in a series of compilations from the eponymous fledgeling label. This bespoke release features a who's who of nu-disco producers. With names like Pontchartrain, Hotmood, Sleazy McQueen, The Funk District, and my very own hometown hero The Silver Rider on the roster, this collection of tracks is seriously heavyweight material. Here's the coolest part: this outstanding release is limited to 50 handmade cassette tapes. Yes, you read that right. Yes, I'm excited too. Time to bust out that handheld tape player or, better yet, find a friend with a sweet car stereo. Who knows, if you play your cards right maybe you can cruise on down the road to some fresh edits straight from the beautiful beaches of Mexico.

Buy your copy of the cassette (which also comes with a download code) here. Better hurry, there are only a few copies left!
