We have been following CHILDSPLAY for quite a while now, and love their varied style. Most recently, they released "Always" ft. Cimo Fränkel, a cheeky play on the R&B hit "Always On Time," and it totally hits the spot with its sharp production and smooth grooves.

Magnetic caught up with the trio to hear more about the tune, and to track down their Current Vibes playlist.

Congratulations on your new track “Always”! Can you tell us what it’s all about?

The record is about the struggles of an artist being in love with someone back home. It's hard to find someone who loves you when you're always on the road. As long as there is real love, it will always find its way on time!

What, to you, have been some of the most enjoyable parts of making this track? What did you gain from the process, and what helps you to keep developing as an act?

So our manager told us we could do a semi-cover of "Always On Time." During this long process of finding the right singer, we came out with Cimo who already knew one of us for 17 years. We sent him the beat and within 15 minutes he wrote the lyrics!

Its hard to say what we have learned from this process because every process is different. You just have to play the right game within every process and get experienced! Getting more experience on a higher level is what makes us keep developing!

Who or what influences you musically? Do you find you get inspired by lots of different genres and styles?

Music is an emotion. You kinda feel it, and you can't force anyone to like a record. So we get influenced not only by other artists, it goes way beyond that. It’s a vibe, it’s a smell, a certain sound or beat you hear in another environment. It can also be sounds or ideas you get when not sober.

How did the collaboration with Cimo Fränkel happen?

We've known Cimo for a while now. We had the opportunity to do this record and asked Cimo to sing on it. He did and nailed it.

Would you consider yourselves perfectionists?

Yes, which makes it hard sometimes. Because there are so any possibilities with music but not everything is possible.

How do you want your music to make people feel?

We don’t want to put people in a certain mood with our music - as long as it touches people. We make club music but also tropical vibes. It’s the experience people take home when they hear the record and most important is that we make music that we like. And if other people share that interest, it’s a win-win.

What are you most excited about for the future with CHILDSPLAY?

Upcoming releases and collaborations and to let the music speak for itself.
