David Morales Arrested On Suspicion Of Drug Possession With Small Amount Of MDMA At Japanese Airport

He was arrested over the weekend at the Fukuoka airport in Southern Japan.

David Morales probably had a worse weekend than you. He was arrested over the weekend “on suspicion of drug possession” of a small amount of MDMA at the Fukuoka airport in Southern Japan. Morales denies the allegation.

Authorities claim to have found five granules, weighing 0.3 grams, of MDMA in his carry on bag.

“He was arrested for allegedly violating the law on narcotics and psychotropics control," a police spokesman told AFP.

According to the Sankei Shimbun newspaper via AFP, Morales denies the claims. "It's not mine. (Someone) might have tried to frame me," he said.

Japan has notoriously harsh drug laws, even for very small amounts. He could face jail time and a very significant fine if convicted to the fullest extent. Some may remember Paul McCartney spending nine days in a Japanese jail in 1980 for having a bag of marijuana in his suitcase.

A Morales rep said: “We’re unable to comment at this time, but will share further information with you as and when we’re able to do so.”
