RÜFÜS DU SOL may be in the home stretch until the release of their third artist album Solace, but they have some big news to share. The Australian trio have announced they are launching their own record label, Rose Avenue, named after the house in Los Angeles where they recorded Solace. Cliché, yes, but the name is solid. The first release comes from Cassian and his new track “Lafayette.”
For RÜFÜS DU SOL, the label is meant to be a place for them and their friends. They want to do what Odesza did for them on Bloom – give back to other artists and provide a platform to share their music.
"With this label, we wanted to continue that feeling of creating a home for us and our friends, bringing the specific style of electronic music we love to the world," RÜFÜS DU SOL says in a statement to Billboard. "We’ve been in the position where we made an album we loved -- Bloom -- and had no label in North America to release it except for our buddies ODESZA. They backed us, got our album out there, and played a huge part in building our fan base outside Australia. We are forever grateful to them for that. We want to return the favor and give artists that we love and believe in that platform. There is great music out there that people aren’t willing to take a chance on. From that idea, Rose Avenue was born."
The first single comes from Cassian, which is something you might hear in a RÜFÜS DU SOL DJ set. It is a bit deeper and darker with strong bass stabs, fluttering arpeggios and synths that float across the top of the record.
RÜFÜS DU SOL’s new album Solace will be released on October 19.
