The young rising star Leotrix is today releasing his incredible new single "Meteor" via UZ's label Quality Goods Records. His fiery, dramatic energy is transmitted throughout this track, which features intense, snaking drums and a deeply textured melody.
We caught up with Leotrix to hear more about this record, and a little more about him as an artist, too.
Congratulations on ”Meteor”! Can you tell us what the track is all about?
Thank you! The track is literally just about the concept of my music being a meteor flying down and crashing into the Earth. Like as if this song will literally impact people in a way.
What, to you, have been some of the most enjoyable parts of making it? What did you gain from the process, and what helps you to keep developing as an act?
Well initially, it started as a remix of another song which kind of helped me to write melodies and soundscapes around these vocals I had. I enjoyed the whole process honestly and it was so fast. I had written the full structure and everything in one night!
Who or what influences you musically? Do you find you get inspired by lots of different genres and styles?
I get inspired by lots of different music but some notable artists that I get my influence from are Sam Gellaitry, Skrillex, Aweminus.
Would you consider yourself a perfectionist, or do you prefer to experiment and see how things turn out?
I experiment a lot first when writing the initial idea but then I'll try to perfect it afterwards.
How did the link up with Quality Goods Records happen?
My booking agent Alex forwarded my manager and I to Mouna who runs Quality Goods. I sent them a bunch of demos and "Meteor" stuck out to them!
How do you want your music to make people feel?
Lots of emotions. Not just one emotion but many emotions. But overall, I want people to feel really fucking excited, like they are about to be apart of something new and something really fun too.
What are you most excited about for the next 12 months?
I'm really excited to go touring again!
