Black Thought is back to deliver some much-needed bars on the second edition of his Streams of Thought EP series. Collabing with Salaam Remi who produced the project, Streams Of Thought Pt. 2 is out now.
The whole project is pure fire. The beats allow Black Thought to do what he does best – rap. He comes right out of the gate on Soundtrack to Confusion with lines that will both make you scratch your head, head to the internet to look things up and look in disbelief at how he put everything together.
“I got more than a reason to revel like Desus and Mero / Lyrical religious hero on Jesus' level / The reason none of these heathens is even as thorough / We bare arms like Idris or Venus de Milo / My blood is different than the blood that you bleed if it's yellow / I'm colder than Paul Robeson leadin' Othello / I'm older than the barcode, it ain't easy to tell though / The rap John Henry, they send me deep in the railroad,” he raps in the first verse.
I could go through and pick out a slew of ridiculous lines that are clear and easy to hear, but not always easy to understand, because he is playing 4D chess with his bars, but I will let you go through and get lost in his stream of consciousness. If you want bangers, mumbling and long hooks, this isn’t for you. Look elsewhere.
