It seems like every single day that some company makes a decision that shows exactly why there needs to be more women in positions of power at companies and everywhere. MIDIPLUS, a Taiwanese hardware company, has unveiled a new audio interface titled "Mirror" that looks like a mirrored makeup case. Cue the eye rolling all the way to the back of your head. In the product description, the Mirror is listed as designed specifically “for females.”
The language doesn’t stop there. They say they created the case by researching things like “cosmetics,” “jewelry” and “female ergonomics” so they could “endue it calm, mysterious and grace.” You are invited to twirl the colorful eye-shadow shaped knobs and enjoy the “waves of sweet interaction,” which just sounds gross.
It has functionality with Android, iPhones, Mac, PC and pads. It can be connected to a headphone, mics, electric guitar (see the little icon?!) and a monitor.
MidiPlus normally makes keyboards and other audio interfaces that look totally normal. This is the first in the line of a “fancy” series, which is likely coded language aimed at women. If they have any sense, they would cancel this whole damn thing, fire these sexist dudes and get back to making their normal audio interfaces.
