Dirty South has been a busy man this year. He released his album XV back in March and as if that wasn’t enough he decided to go ahead and put together another album that was released this past Friday. The LP titled Darko takes many of the themes that he started to explore on XV and goes more minimal and darker, as you might expect from the title. It is a compact burst of music that blends together progressive house and techno with soothing melodies that glide over dark and brooding rhythms.

As you may remember from when XV came out, we did a feature with Dirty South that took us into the studio to show off the type of gear he has. With a studio that should make anyone jealous, he has just about every piece of equipment at his disposal. Today we do the same thing with a behind the scenes look at how he created the album. It has a breakdown for each track, showing you how the melodies, beats and other sounds were made on each track. It goes quickly, so if you are good at identifying hardware, this will be easy. You can also use the other feature as a guide.

“Check out a little behind the scenes video of me making some melodies, beats and noise on my new album darko,” explains Dirty South to Magnetic. “All the footage is filmed in my private studio in Melbourne, Australia. Hope you like it!”
