I was recently introduced to the rad women-owned company, Carve Designs, who let me try out some of their outdoor / active wear. As a full-time film producer, I find myself on the road pretty regularly and need to pack items that can be worn "in the field." I also need to be able to easily roll up and pack down these items in my bag so that there's room for professional wear. I decided to take my Carve Designs gear on a location scout in New Mexico and to Los Angeles for meetings.
The Silverton Reversible Vest I'm wearing above might be my favorite piece they sent me. Not only is it lightweight, but it's incredibly soft and actually kept me warm on a day that was fairly brisk. It's also reversible, so you can choose from two colors each time you want to wear it. This vest is one of those staple pieces for traveling or going camping as it rolls up into a very tiny section of your bag. This baby is currently on sale on their site, so go snag one at Carve Designs.
This Wales Sweater comes in several earth-toned colors. This is a piece I especially love because it's nice enough to wear to a meeting, but still so casual and cozy. You can wear a layer underneath and stay pretty warm while camping, or wear it by itself in slightly warmer weather (like Los Angeles).
Same goes for this Rowayton Cowl Neck Sweater in this blush pink. This top is so, so soft and warm. You can wear this layer-free, or throw it on over a bathing suit or tank top while camping or festival-going.
And last but not least, here are my new favorite leggings. The description on the tag reads "soft as butter" and that aint no joke. I could wear these all day every day. They're form fitting but not so tight that it becomes irritating after wearing them all day. They're quick-dry, breathable and even offer sun protection (UPF 50). You could wear these jogging, swimming, camping, to festivals, yoga, etc. Pretty sweet pants.
I want to also point out that Carve Designs uses sustainable fabric as much as possible -- organic cotton, Tencel, Modal, and recycled polyester from recycled plastic water bottles. As a lover of the outdoors, I can get behind brands like this and feel good about where my money is going.
There are a few other pieces you may want to check out on their site. Carve Designs' Creative Director, Jennifer Hinton, says 'our Indonesian Woven Crossbody Bag has been a festival-favorite, on-trend with just enough room for the essentials. We also offer a number of crushable hats that are prefect to pack in your suitcase, wear during the day at a festival and then stuff in a small bag at night. The women of Carve Designs are determined to push the boundaries of outdoor apparel and prove that functional can be fashionable and well-fitting."
