Pikes Hotel Founder, Ibiza Pioneer, Tony Pike Dead

The Ibiza icon leaves behind a legacy second to none on the island.

Dance music has lost a legend. Tony Pike died over the weekend. He had been battling cancer and would have turned 85 this year.

The news was announced on his Facebook page last night. A full statement was released by hotel co-owner Dawn Hindle. "I do feel it is the end of an era, Tony was part of a generation of characters, trail-blazers and adventure-seekers who arrived in Ibiza over 40 years ago," she writes on Instagram. 

The Pikes Hotel founder created one of the iconic hotels and party places in Ibiza that became a hotspot for celebrities all over the world including George Michael, Freddie Mercury, Liam Gallagher and Grace Jones.

Hedonism because synonymous with Pikes Hotel. Wham's “Club Tropicana” was filmed there and Tony Pike made an important cameo in it as well.

Tributes have started to pour in as fans and artists have started to learn the news of Pike’s passing. 

Heaven just got a lot more vibrant today.
