Legendary English DJ and production duo Dominic Butler and Mark Yardley, better known to the world as Stanton Warriors, are back and ready to release their new album Rise this summer. To help prep the record, which will be their first since 2015’s Rebel Bass, they are releasing their new single “They Follow” featuring dancehall queen Stush and UK hip-hop dynamos Foreign Beggars.
The song merges all of these genres into one vortex of energy and power. Stanton Warriors set the table with a barrage of breakbeats, gritty basslines, a swirling siren and a grimy deep low end. They continue to add more elements to the track as it develops to its eventual conclusion. Stush and Foreign Beggars compliment each other to bring out the best in the song and get the party started.
This has been a long time coming for the Foreign Beggars, who have been talking about doing a track with the Stanton Warriors for almost 10 years.
"It’s funny, we first bumped into the homies [Stanton Warriors] about 10 years ago and we spoke about doing a track. Finally we got busy on this heater. They sent through the banger and it literally wrote itself. The combo of us, Stantons and Stush is cool as we’re from 3 totally different parts of the scene but it does feel like a UK family link up,” Pavan of Foreign Beggars explains. “I chose to make my verse a celebration of individuals from the UK who’ve broken ground in music sports, politics who’ve all in some way positively influenced the era I came up in and shaped culture as we know it today."
For Stush, this was a no brainer.
"When approached to do this track with Stanton Warriors, I was excited to see what we could come up with. Heard the beat and decided to drop something a little different, I'm all about pushing boundaries,” Stush says to Magnetic. “Then when I heard that it would be a collabo with Foreign Beggars as well, I knew this would be a vibeeee!!! Can't wait for it to drop!!"
Sound the siren because Stanton Warriors are here with new music. Take the lead with this single and the rest will follow.
